Elite Manufacturing
Elite have been manufacturing bed bases and mattresses for well over 50 years, so to help you sleep better at night below you will see how we take some standard wood and metal and turn it into a elite bed.
Stage 1: Frame Assembly
Our two frame makers have more than 65 years experience between them. First of all they will take the wood and cut it down to your very own base specification. After all the wood has been cut to size, it will then be put onto one of our workbenches for assembly this is where we can add and ottoman or drawers to your base.
Stage 2: Upholster the base
Once the bases have been assembled they are taken through to be upholstered. This is where we attach the fillings, cover the base in one of our many different fabrics, fit the castors or legs into the base and finally attach the sockets for the headboard fittings to allow you to easily connect your headboard.
Stage 3: Make the coils
The coiler machine can make up to 1200 coils per hour, the machine will take a string of wire and turn it into individual coils.
Stage 4: Assembly of the coils
A whole 288 individual coils will make up one of our single mattress, each coil is put in place depending on the size you require and joined by helical wire to keep them firmly in place.
Stage 5: Strengthen the frame
Even though the coils are now held firmly in place we still add a further 11 gauge side strengthening frames to create the final mattress frame, these strengthening wires allow us to adjust the coils to your particular specifications.
Stage 6: Create the mattress fillings
Our mattresses can be made up with a combination of different fillings, these include, wool, cotton, polyester, lamb’s wool and coconut fibre. All our mattress fillings can be made to our customers specifications.
Stage 7: Mattress Assembly
Once the mattress fillings have been made we will then attach these to our mattress frames, this will be done either by hand or by one of our quilting machines depending on the type of mattress.
Stage 8: Finishing Department
In this department the mattresses are finished off so that when we send them to your house, we can be assured that they will be of a top quality that people have come to expect at Elite. First of all we will take the fabric that the mattress has to be covered in and cut out the size we need to use, then the cover will be sewn around the inner of the matters creating the finished mattress. Once the mattress has been finished it will be tested and inspected, wrapped and sent to our warehouse ready for delivery.
